The Song of the Levites

The Levites were the tribe of Israelites descended from Levi, one of the twelve sons of Jacob (from https://www.gotquestions.org/difference-priests-Levites.html). You can read about them in Numbers 8:5-26. The Levites function as Israel’s sacrifice to Yahweh (vss.16-18) where they stand as Israel’s sacrifice of the firstborn to Yahweh (from the footnote on page 186 from the New Spirit Filled Life Bible). They had responsibility over aspects of tabernacle and temple worship. They also carried the Ark of the Covenant with wooden poles across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land. Application: If you are one of His, you must take His calling on your life very seriously (Ephesians 2:10). YOU are carrying the very Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ in YOU (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The Manifest Presence of God is not to be handled frivolously.

CHORUS

I sing for Your GLORY (Psalm 66:2, Psalm 138:5)

You go before us to the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 31:8, Exodus 13:21, Joshua 23:5)

Your secret things reveal Your story (Deuteronomy 29:29, Matthew 13:34-35, Colossians 1:26)

You give me strength to stand (Psalm 18:1, Psalm 46:1, Colossians 1:11)

I will be strong – I’m not afraid (Joshua 1:9, Psalm 27:1, Isaiah 12:2)

You are our Father and You will save (Deuteronomy 32:6, John 3:17, Isaiah 35:4)

Our mighty Rock (1 Samuel 2:2, Psalm 62:2) – we rest in Thee (Matthew 11:28-29, Hebrews 4:3)

The God of Truth for all to see!  (Deuteronomy 32:4, John 14:6, John 16:13)

Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty (Psalm 99:5 & 9, Isaiah 6:3, Revelation 4:8)

Worthy, worthy is the Lamb (Revelation 5:12)

(spoken) We shall bear the iniquity related to the sanctuary (Numbers 18:1) but we will not touch any holy thing lest we die (Numbers 4:15, 2 Samuel 6:6-7). We bore the Ark of the Covenant and stood in the Jordan River. As soon as our feet touched the water, the flooding river stood still and stopped flowing till our entire nation of people could cross over. By this, we knew the living God was among us and that He would drive out all the inhabitants of the land which He was giving us (Joshua 3:8-17).

Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty (Psalm 99:5 & 9, Isaiah 6:3, Revelation 4:8)

Worthy, worthy is the Lamb   (4X) (Revelation 5:12)
