Living the Christian life is not easy. In fact it is the hardest thing you will ever do (Luke 9:23).
When a person confesses Jesus Christ as their Savior (Romans 10: 9-10) they will experience the life changing transformation of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3: 3-8; John 14:16; 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20) Then they begin a life long process by God to conform them into the image of Jesus Christ.
God has predestined (or determined beforehand) that those who believe in Jesus Christ will be adopted into His family and conformed to His Son (Romans 8:28-29; Philippians 1:6). But even though our sins are forgiven, we still struggle with sin (Romans 7: 15-19; Hebrews 12: 4).
As believers in Jesus Christ, we need to encourage each other to throw off everything that entangles us and run the race marked out for us with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1-3) and to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit (examples in Acts 1:8; 3:12; 4:7; 4:33; 6:8; 8:10; 8:19) to give us victory in this life (John 10:10).
The purpose of this song is to encourage you (1 Thessalonians 5:11) and remind you that if you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, He has big plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 12:4-8) and desires you to seek Him with all your heart (Psalm 119:2; Jeremiah 29:13). You can trust Him and rely on His Power in you to overcome any form of depression (Psalm 42:5; 2 Corinthians 7:6) or temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). You can also stand confidently before people who do not know Who Jesus Christ is with quiet confidence (Ephesians 3:12) and tell them God’s Truth (2 Timothy 4:2) without doubt or feeling guilty of intolerance (Acts 4:13; Philippians 1:14; Psalm 27:3).
Be encouraged and do not doubt! The reason why people cannot see the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ is because they do not have the Spirit of God living in them to discern spiritual truth (1 Corinthians 1:18-19; 2:14). Thank Him for revealing Himself to you and give Him your talents, your life and your all (Colossians 3:17)!
Intro
As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they will be My people. Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty.”2 Corinthians 6: 16b-18
CHORUS
Power unto you so that you may overcome (John 16:33; 1 John 5:4) the plans of the evil one (Romans 12:21; 1 John 2:12-14)
Verse 1 (God speaking to us)
I know your deeds (Revelation 2:2-3) You work hard for Me yet they reject you (like in 1 Samuel 8:7) Remember Who my child (1 Peter 2:4) They’ll never love you if you follow Me (Matthew10:22) These flesh and blood (1 Corinthians 15:50; Ephesians 6:12) They walk in darkness, blind and lost (John 3:19; Acts 26:17-18) Demonic strongholds thrown down (2 Corinthians 10:4). They coil in fear at the sight of the Cross!
Verse 2 (Us speaking to God)
We welcome You Paracletos (John 16:7-8) Alla lempsesthe dunamos (You will receive power-Acts 1:8) Oh rushing Wind (John 3:8; Acts 2:1-2) sweep through this place (John 16:8) All nations bow and hide their face (Revelation 15:4) We wait in breathless wonder (Acts 3:10) to see Your hand move the hearts of men (John 6:44) Your chosen ones stand waiting to see Your Glory fall again (like in Exodus 24:15-17; 40:34-3 5; Leviticus 9:23-24; 1Kings 8:10-11; 2 Chronicles 7:1-3)
Postlude
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him Who en- dured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12: 2-3
